Bounce Castle for Grownups Nears Completion

By NBC Bay Area - September 9th, 2010

Ready to catch some air? The Presidio’s indoor trampoline park is just days away from opening, and the City is giddy.

Door open on Wednesday of next week. Staffers are just putting the last touches on the place and gearing up for the grand opening celebration, which starts on next Friday and continues all weekend.

This is more than just a backyard bouncy-house. The House of Air has five separate areas for the aspiring hopper. There’s the Matrix, with forty-two conjoined trampolines covering an area that’s larger than a basketball court. The 2X Bowl is like a skateboard park for bouncing, with three-sided bowls separated by a low wall. The Colosseum will be used for dodgeball and basketball games.

Classes for newcomers and pros alike will be held at the Training Ground. And you can bring the family, too. They’ll enjoy the Air Junior Bounce House, designed for kids from three to six.

Even the price is good news. An hour of throwing yourself at the walls will run you just $14f.

Of course, with all that careening, concerns about safety are inevitable. Not to worry, says House of Air. Virtually every surface in the room is either covered in padding or made of trampoliney mesh. Helmets are available, though not mandatory for adults. And you’ll be denied access if you’re drunk or stoned, which is kind of a bummer but probably a wise idea.
